The Youth Leadership Highlands program emphasizes the importance of Highlands county’s agricultural and environmental industries during a full day of leadership education and training. Different private and public organizations take part in educating YLH students about agriculture and the environment. The students have picked blueberries, learned about Florida dairy and beef cattle industries, visited caladium fields at Happiness Farms in Lake Placid, toured Delray Plants’ acres of greenhouses full of ornamental houseplants in Venus, and learned about the challenges of diseases & insects facing citrus growers.

This program was funded in part by a grant from the Florida's Natural Growers Foundation, Inc.

In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.
